Local and National Musicians Get New Performance Space – The White Elephant

Starting in February, Vancouver Washington gets a new home for music and performances – The White Elephant. Located east of the city, The White Elephant, Hockinson’s Theater of Rock & Roll, celebrates its Grand Opening February 26, with a performance by rock band Lynch Mob.

Vancouver, WA – January 28, 2011 (via PressReleaseNation.com) — This year, Vancouver Washington welcomes a new concert venue – The White Elephant, Hockinson’s Theater of Rock & Roll, which will be celebrating its Grand Opening on February 26, 2011. The inaugural concert will present the internationally-known rock band Lynch Mob, featuring George Lynch, former guitarist of Dokken.

“We’re really stoked about opening a new concert venue here in Hockinson,” said Michael Lind, owner and manager of The White Elephant. “We’re planning on booking some really first-class acts in 2011.”

The Portland / Vancouver area has a long, rich tradition of music and performing arts. But for residents east of the cities, attending a first-class event has usually meant a long drive across town, and expensive parking. And there has always seemed to be a shortage of performance spaces, especially for younger performers.

With the opening of The White Elephant in Hockinson, ( http://www.The-White-Elephant.org ) east-side families now have a venue that’s close-in and family friendly. With a commitment to fun, safety, and quality, The White Elephant will offer first-class entertainment every weekend, and weekly showcases for up-and-coming local artists.

“We came to Hockinson about 6 years ago, and we really love the rural flavor of the community. But it’s a long way to the nearest club or performance space, and we felt that the town could really benefit by having a place where people could come and see some first-class musical acts, comedians, DJs, and more,” said Lind.

The grand opening of The White Elephant on February 26, 2011 will feature Lynch Mob, starring former Dokken guitarist George Lynch. ( http://www.the-white-elephant.org/upcoming-shows.html ) Many more music and comedy events are planned for 2011. In addition to the nationally-known artists who will be performing, the hall is open for local performers, 17 years and under, every Thursday night. Billed as an alcohol-free theater, The White Elephant is an excellent place for the entire family to enjoy an evening’s entertainment.
